New smoking laws coming into effect on 20th May 2020.

From the 20th May 2020 new further parts of the Tobacco Products Directive (2014/40/EU) will come into force impacting the UK market.

From 20th May, cigarettes and roll your own tobacco products with more than a 3% market share may no longer have characterising flavours such as menthol, vanilla or candy that mask the taste and smell of tobacco. Menthol is currently the only flavour with more that 3% market share.

Other products, such as cigars, cigarillos, heated tobacco products or e-cigarette products and snus are exempt from this ban.

The sale of menthol cigarettes post 19th May, will be illegal and remaining products should be removed from sale.
